Co-Ferments

So, I tend to like big funky coffees…think naturals, anerobics some coferments. I will typically buy from nice roasters.

Recently, I have seen some hate on co-ferments from smart coffee people and never really understood the hate. When reading it, it initially reminded me of some of the hate on naturals 15 years ago.

So, I visited Costa Rica. Typical trying lots of coffees from different roasters. I came upon a shop with 5 co-ferments on the menu you could smell. They were vile…it reminded me of smelling terrible perfume. I still had one…it was a mistake. it dawned on me that I only like very good co-ferments.

I wonder what percent of coferments are “good” and I am only getting the best of the best. I hope what I tasted is not the future of coffee.
