havent played in a while, what happened and is it worth coming back now?

hey yall, i havent played in years because my switch broke and tbh i liked acnh a lot but i got a switch 2 recently so i can get back into it if i buy it again, but is it worth it to get it now or just wait until the next ac in a year or 2? also what have they added ever since i left a couple months after that update that added the harvs island expansion? thanks
