I feel burnout even when I’m not doing much at work

Career

Hi everyone, I don’t even know what kind of post this is — maybe a rant, maybe I’m just looking for validation.

I work in a hybrid corporate setup. It’s supposed to be a “chill” environment — decent benefits, not toxic, manageable workload — but I’ve been feeling burned out even when I’m not doing much.

It’s not physical exhaustion. It’s emotional fatigue from navigating weird team dynamics. I have teammates who are nice on the surface but tend to act superior or micromanage even though we’re on the same level. One loves to “remind” people just to look responsible, another pushes tasks onto others but takes credit later, and another treats me like a sidekick when it’s convenient. It’s draining to constantly manage how I respond, to stay polite, to choose my battles every single day.

I try to be professional, but honestly, it’s hard when respect isn’t mutual. I’ve also stopped engaging too much because I don’t want to be dragged into gossip or drama, which makes me feel even more disconnected.

What’s strange is that I should feel grateful. I have a stable job, it’s not toxic-toxic, and it pays fine. But everything feels empty lately. I wake up tired, log in tired, and even small interactions make me feel like I’m walking on eggshells. I don’t hate my work itself — I just hate how it feels.

Maybe I just need a break, or maybe I’m realizing this setup isn’t for me long-term. I’m not even sure what I want from this post — maybe advice, maybe just to hear from others who also feel emotionally burnt out even when things “look okay.”

Thanks for reading. Sometimes I just want to feel seen by someone who gets it.
