Are these paints any use for a decent skin mix?
For some context, I got into 40k at the end of last year for the first time. Painted a few space marines then decided I wanted to commit to an Ork army. I was gearing up to paint some minis and life got a bit on top of me with moving house and such. I've now just started getting back into the hobby and I'm imminently painting some Orks.
TLDR: I'm a fairly novice painter on the back of a year long break, about to start painting some Orks, which I've never done before.
Before I stopped, I was recommended these 3 paints for Ork skin from a hobby shop - Warboss Green (Base), Skarsnik Green (Highlight), Moot Green (Highlight).
Now I'm looking into skin methods, however, I've found barely anyone mentioning these colours and instead I feel the direction may be a Gutrippa or Plaguebearer Contrast, or a Death World Forest Base. Accompanied by highlights varying Elysian Green, Ogryn Camo and Screaming Skull. I prefer the sort of grimdark, muddy, deserty feel and am looking for methods/colours that will complement this.
Are these 3 paints useless here? Or is there some purpose to any or all of them? I don't mind that I bought them already, I just want to do right by my scheme, if that means buying new paints.
TLDR: Do the paints Warboss, Skarnik and Moot green work for a grimdark feeling skin, or are they too retro?
Additionally, if any general pointers for skin are going, I'd be grateful
Cheers boyz
