Title 32 Fed Tech Position
Good Morning All,
I recently accepted a Title 32 Tech position within my State Guard. I am an SNCO and at almost 16 years of service. I had planned to hit my 20 years and throw down a retirement letter but now I am thinking about a different path.
I worked in the private sector for several years and got let go at the start of the year. For most of 2025 I was desperately trying to get a new role in my field but the job market was oversaturated with other candidates and positions listed that already had internal candidates lines up. Thankfully I finally landed this role but I'm learning about the dual retirement you can earn as a tech but comes with more years of service.
If any of you habe any experience or stories they would be appreciated. I have a Masters degree and am also considering commissioning if I am going to be in the uniform for another 10 to 20 years to land that Fed retirement so I might as well shoot for a higher Mil retirement too and O-3E looks much brighter than what I could make topping out the E side of the house.
More so, if you have transitioned from Private sector to Fed. What made it worth it for you? Job security? Work / life balance? The benefits package? Something else?
Looking forward to hearing your responses!
