Have some restaurants stopped using coins?

I went to 2 restaurants yesterday. Both times I ordered a meal for about $20. Both times I paid in cash. Both times when giving me change they ignored the coin part of the bill, rounding down. The first restaurant was counter service done by the owner. The bill was something like $18.43, I gave $20, he gave me $2 and said, "Cash discount." The second restaurant was sit-down with waitstaff. The bill was something like $19.43. I gave $100. The waiter returned $81 ($11 in singles, for which he apologized).

With most people paying by card now have some places just stopped bothering with coins?
