Current State of the Game?

Hey all.

Tried the game back in ~2021(?) on a free trial weekend. Couldn't even get out of my room lol.

I've since upgraded hardware, and have been playing recent contemporary titles fluidly on high-ultra settings just fine.

After my yearly "try Starfield again and remember that it can't be what I want it to be despite all the mods in the world", I'm feeling ready to give this game a whirl again. I was going to wait until the full release of Squadron 42, but I'm feeling tempted.

What would I be getting myself in to? What could I expect, and what expectations should I check at the door?

Seeing screenshots and videos lately on this sub makes me pretty hopeful.

Any info for a prospective new citizen is appreciated.
