Request: Recommendations to convince my wife we should visit Sweden next summer!

Hej svenskar!

I’m trying to convince my wife that we should visit Sweden next summer! But to be honest I don’t know enough about Swedish living or touring to make that pitch effectively. So I’m hoping to get some leads from knowledgeable folk as a starting point for further research.

We’ve been to Iceland and Norway and have enjoyed it immensely. I play the Nyckelharpa (to some degree) and want to visit cultural/musical institutions, as well as some runestones, museums, etc. But we’re very comfortable getting a rental car and driving long distances and don’t want to get hung up too much in Stockholm. 

We like to visit parks, nature reserves, bird sanctuaries, do some hikes and be on the coast or islands, kayak or take some ferries. Cute smaller towns, the best cafe, bakery, or bed and breakfast, all appreciated. If you’ve got anything you love doing/ places you love going to, please share!  

P.S. I enjoy reading books (history, travel) before visiting countries, would love recommendations there as well.
