S2 Thoughts

So a little late to the party, but I have just finished watching season 2 this morning and similar to the first season, I wanted to get my thoughts out. I waited for the whole season to be out rather than watching week by week, so I have binged it basically all yesterday apart from finishing the last three episodes this morning.

First, the things I liked:

• Marin is still super adorable and funny. She is one of the best FMCs around.
• Gojo starting to find his place in their class and the various friendship groups.
• The focus on other characters and the cosplay community in general was interesting (even if the costumes themselves weren't)
• The end credits song was funky.
• Some specific highlights: Nowa owning karaoke, Coffin being such an interesting idea that I like many others wish it was real, and of course Marin's condom misunderstanding which will rightly become a meme.

I do feel like it was missing something though. I wish there had been a bit more focus on the relationship between Marin and Gojo, which I know from skimming ahead in the manga will hopefully come in S3 (if we get one). This kind of links to my next point, I feel like this season didn't cover that much and probably could have been a bit wider in scope in terms of how many manga chapters it adapted.

Overall, I really enjoyed this season, but I didn't wuv wuv wuv it as much as the first. The mark of a good series is how much post-anime depression I feel after finishing it. With season 2 that just didn't hit me this time.
