Looking for a 3D spaceship game, third person where I can see the ship, preferably open world, with lots of dogfighting, and as much “just turn it on, fly around space, shoot things” as possible.

I’m looking for a 3D game, preferably Switch or PS4, where I can pilot a spaceship and fly around exploring space (flying by but not landing on planets so much), and get into fights, shoot things. Preferably open world, or at least a large arena to fly around as I choose. It has to be third by person - I want to see the whole spaceship when I am flying.

Bonus points if a little kid can pick it up and play - I’m hoping to play with my nephew, but even something he can watch me play would be cool, or pilot it in quieter areas.

Of course, I love space shmups all the way from Space Invaders, Galaxian, Galaga, Darius, Gradius, R-Type etc etc. And of course Starfox.

Possible contenders I am interested in but not sure about yet: Starlink, No Man’s Sky, Rogue Squadron, Everspace.

In my head I am thinking of the X-Wing dogfights in Star Wars and the Battlestar Galactica remake.

Pew pew pew! Thanks!!
