Lady Izdihar

USSR

Pretty sure that people have already talked about her here, but maybe it's been a while. Where to begin? She certainly has the Soviet aesthetic. Seriously, 10/10 on nailing the look, and I think that's part of the problem. She's a Muslim who supports the ethos of a failed nation that oppressed Muslims. More relevant today, her silence on the Uyghur genocide is deafening. Three months ago, she quoted Marx on religion, which is good, but it's not how Marxists in power acted and continue to act in practice.

And then there's her whitewashing of their history. Her look only makes it more palatable and compelling to younger people who may not have the life skills and experience to see it for what it is. She ignores the lived experiences of people who lived in the Soviet Union and other Iron Curtain nations, including one of my friends.
