Guys which club should I go for? Debate club or English club

Please give me a genuine suggestion and not something biased or you are naturally good at. So...my mom is saying Debate is very hard and I cant do it. She is telling me to join cultural club. But I am not interested and I absolutely hate reciting poems and most peoms in my culture are written in the old language of ours which breaks my teeth. I am good at English, I would say I am average but I dunno grammar that well tho. But I got 170 out of 200 in my previous exam. When I said English might be best for me, my mom said "Do you even know English?" I was like wow, while the most toppers in my country struggles to cut a good figure in English, even with knowing grammar, I got 170 without even studying THAT hard. But yeah its true my country kinda focuses on memorising grammar instead of practicing the ability to write without memorising so English club might not be the best for me.

Overall, I don't think I have enough ability to join in either one of them. But I wanna try, I know Its late but I still wanna try.
