Since Dhanteras is here, I want to gift my mom a jewellery, these “making charge” and “wastage” scams scare me - any good jeweller recommendations?

I have been reading a lot about these scams in jewellery sector. And I dont want to be scammed but I also don’t want to overpay. I’ve heard Tanishq charges a lot of making charge, is that true? But then local jewellers would charge less making charge but scam u in different ways. I’m confused and divided.
