Should I just start my medical career over with nursing or something?

Career Advice

Long story short, I have random onset anxiety (has nothing to do with the job) and I'm now trying to get it sorted out with meds with a psychiatrist. Due to me not acknowledging my issues, I've worked for and been relieved from all 5 local IFT companies in my area as an EMT. None of them I even lasted 4 months. I'm now working with a psychiatrist and I'm praying that my anxiety gets better with meds.

I think it's safe to say I've burned bridges with all these companies cuz honestly I was a shit worker due to me not being able to focus, plus call outs when it was really severe. Also grippy sock vacations that I had to vaguely explain as "I was in the hospital" after having no contact for several days. The only other option I have is my local fire department, which was the actual goal in the first place. But unless I get my fire cert (I'm fat and can't pass fire school right now), the only way I could maybe pooossibly get hired on is as a single cert medic.

I'm not sure if I should go to medic school with just a slim possibility of getting hired at a local FD and having no other options with IFT companies. Ideally I want the autonomy that being a medic would give me as opposed to a nurse, but if I can't get a job the point is moot. I'm 100% with the VA for mental health, so I can afford to not work for a long time and just focus on my mental health. I'm planning to not get another job until my anxiety is under control.

But yeah would I just be wasting my time by trying to go to medic school? Or should I just start over completely when I'm better and do nursing or something?
