When a position doubles, I want to withdraw my original investment and let the rest ride
One mindset that’s helped me stay disciplined is this: when a position hits 100% return, I take out my original investment and let the remaining shares keep running.
Thats way i got my initial capital and the rest of the position is effectively “free money.” It gives me peace of mind and helps me avoid getting too emotionally tied to price swings.
Of course, this isn’t always the optimal move sometimes it’s better to let a strong stock compound untouched.
Curious what others here think. Do you ever pull your original investment out after a double, or prefer to let everything compound long-term?
