Retirement planning is making me feel socialist

I’m young and can manage it but I feel that so much of stress in life is caused by making sure people don’t fuck you over. How tf is a grandma supposed to stay on the ball and keep their financial planners in check/follow market conditions all the time? When I think of shit like this it makes me feel okay about a competent government taking 50 percent of my paycheck and managing things correctly for everyone.
