Do a lot of girls wear shorts under their skirts?

I'm just wondering since you can't check it as it would be really weird and inappropriate and I just wonder do you girls wear shorts or not underneath. I don't really know as through social media and stuff I only know they go without and never really hear them wearing shorts under.
