Circumcision question

I know, in general, you shouldn’t compare the internet to real life. But something has come up that I can’t discuss IRL

The internet seems to be teeming with “intactivists” and people who consider it genital mutilation

However, this practice is common in America, South Korea, Philippines, etc

In many African countries, it’s done as HIV prevention. Aboriginal Australians practiced it to prevent desert sand getting trapped in their foreskin

It’s a concept in Judaism (Brit Milah) and in Islam (Khitan)

Yet, a lot of countries have moved to restrict it (Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, South Africa) and it seems to be a growing social attitude that circumcising children is some sort of violation. There’s an article on The Guardian about a Christian British woman divorcing her Turkish Muslim husband, because he insisted on circumcising their sons

Do you think this is antisemitism/islamophobia or an opinion people are allowed to have, and that outlawing it wouldn’t infringe upon religious freedom?

Did you face any backlash or condemnation for circumcising your son?

ANY INFORMATION you could add would be helpful. I wasn’t thinking about intactivists at all until I realized just how many people seem to oppose it and don’t care about religious freedom
