I feel like I live in my head.
I don’t know how to explain this properly, but I don’t feel like I’m actually “in” my life. I feel like I live mostly in my head instead of reality. Everything external feels muted or distant, like it’s happening around me, but I’m not really part of it. But when I imagine something in my head, it feels more real than real life does. I get absorbed into imaginary scenarios because they feel safer and more meaningful than anything around me. The weird part is I know I’m not okay, but my brain keeps trying to convince me I am. It’s like I’m running on autopilot in the real world, but the real “me” only exists inside my thoughts. I don’t want to die, but I also don’t want to live like this forever, disconnected, empty, and not grounded in anything. I don’t want reality, but I don’t want this either. Has anyone else experienced this? What is this feeling called, and how do you start actually inhabiting your life again?
