Kei Shirogane and the art of manufacturing disposition

Am I the only one who feels uncomfortable with the contrived sense of self-obsequiousness Kei manages towards the public veneer of her family?
Her coy apprehension is presented as taciturn affection towards her brother (and father), yet all such displays are conducted with the underlying desire to ameliorate their outward demeanour for the sake of personal gratification.
In short, she seems too obsessed with refashioning every aspect of her family’s countenance for me to be truly convinced that she cares for them solely out of unconditional familial love.

Love the manga, but this always bugged me.
