I just don't get the Megan hate and the KB love. Or maybe I do.
So one of them breaks her engagement before the wedding because she doesn't want to do that to him, saying no at the alter. I think it is fair to say she had given it a fair try. She acknowledges their conflicts and issues and is self aware and self critical. She goes as far as questioning her own potential as a mother in light of the situation. Her fiance is this guy who has brought a son to this mess and who couldn't be bothered to go to even on one date together during this time, despite only having his son over during a weekend.
The other one decides to say no at the altar to a deeply traumatised man whose pain and desperate need for affection is plain for all to see, but specially for a social worker with experience. The type of person you should not put through this experience and more so on the day when his mother fails him, again. And this when from the moment she saw him she had no intentions whatsoever to marry him, we all know that. Her explanations are a string of patronizing statements taken from self help books. There is no self reflection.
And yet, Megan is being criticized to her chore, often with good reason, her every action and saying dissected and analyzed. Whereas KB is given a free pass. Even praised for the way she conducted herself.
To me the more plausible explanation is this: We like Jordan and we despise Edmond. We think Jordan is husband material and a good man and good looking. But we find Edmond is a man child who has tantrums and he irritates the hell out of us. So the woman who rejects Jordan is going to be lambasted while the one who gets rid of Edmond is going to be celebrated, no matter what...
