Swiss settings not saving on GCLoader with CMOS battery dead

Help

Hi there,

Looking for some help with my DOL-001 GameCube that has a GCLoader running Swiss 0.6.

I booted the GameCube up after a long time not using it today and for the first time on boot for got what I think was error indicating that the cmos battery was dry. I didn’t get a picture of it, and it didn’t show up again on subsequent reboots, but fairly certain it was the red box that says “the system settings have been lost”. This wasn’t a surprise as it seems the clock had been inaccurate for some time.

The main issue subsequently was that Swiss was not saving the settings I had set up- mainly using the virtual memory card and having the GameCube logo with each boot. I got the “configuration failed to save” error.

Are these issues related? I thought the battery was mainly for the clock and if I didn’t care about using a RTC for games then using Swiss and the GCloader to boot my games shouldn’t have been an issue?

Is it related to the use of the virtual memory card? Does Swiss save settings to it? While the configuration didn’t save the virtual memory card would work if enabled on the and I could see my saves.

Any help would be appreciated. I don’t know how to solder so I would need to go to a nearby retro shop to get it replaced and I’d rather not if I don’t have to.
