Hot Wheels “new” track system

I just saw the new Hot Wheels track in a Target store that uses the “snap” system, which will no longer be compatible with the decades-old typical track connected with blue joiner pieces. No older track packs on the shelves. Amazon has the older 4-piece track pack for 6-10$, compared to what used to be 0.99$. Are they phasing out the old track? Why Mattel?! Why?! (I already know the answer…🤑)
