the auto setting on a car's AC is never good

Sometimes it's super hot in the car and I want it really aggressive, but it's not aggressive enough. Sometimes it's almost at the temperate I want, but it's still blowing arctic cold air on me, and then it gets to the right temperature and turns off the fan and I'm hot because of the sun. The system doesn't appear to know how strong the sun is, or whether I'm wearing long sleeves or not, and doesn't understand that when it's hot or I just got in the car I want cold air blowed onto my body, but later I want a lower fan setting and not blown directly onto me... 

And don't get me started on the "re-circulate air" vs "outside". The car always makes the stupidest decisions.
