2015 Nissan Pathfinder - not recognizing key fob

I've had this problem sporadically for a few years and have always just assumed it was the battery in the fob needing changing, even if it wasn't old. But now my key fob barely gets recognized. It no longer opens the door, I have to take the physical key and open the driver's door. The car barely starts with the fob. I have to press the button quite a few times, and then it finally starts, but the dash shows "no key" even though the car is driving.

What could this be? I will be taking it in to the dealer or another local mechanic. I'm afraid of the car not starting when I'm out and about somewhere.
