AITAH for making my dad leave my graduation early after what he said to my mom?
I (22F) graduated college last week. My parents are divorced, and my mom raised me basically alone. My dad was barely around, but he wanted to show up for graduation and bring his “new family.” I said fine, as long as he behaved. During the ceremony, I saw him whispering something to my mom, and later she looked like she was about to cry. When I asked what happened, she said he told her, “Must feel weird watching someone actually finish something for once.” That was it for me. I went over, told him to leave, right there in front of everyone. He looked shocked, then angry, said I was being disrespectful and ungrateful for “making a scene.” His wife called me dramatic and said I ruined the day for everyone. But honestly, my mom has done everything for me she deserved peace that day, not insults.
Now my dad’s side of the family says I embarrassed him publicly and could’ve “handled it quietly.” Maybe I could’ve, but after 22 years of him making her feel small, I just snapped.
So, was I wrong for making him go?
