Dish Detergent leaving white residue on dishes after washing

So right now, we have Paper Bird brand dish washing detergent from Shoprite. It’s awful, but it’s all we have. I usually use Cascade but we are out. Anyway, it’s not completely washing off, and is leaving white, soap splotches all over the dishes. Am I using too much or is it just that crappy? I checked the filter, everything looks fine. This doesn’t happen with Cascade. Just this off brand one!
