Continental/United FA's who where there... when did you vote to end the ability to grieve for pay?

Who was the AFA President? Who was the MEC? Who thought it was a 'good idea' to end the ability to grieve and get paid? Why did they end the grievance pay process? It seems like the number one thing worth keeping and fighting for, so why did the leadership give in?
