Renters rights act

General

Think this is going to screw me over personally as a tenant given my financial situation

Currently my landlord would increase my rent by £100 after each agreed fixed term tenancy ended which we’d sign for 18 months each time we signed a new contract, effectively shielding me from an increase for 18 months.

But with this bill and tenancies moving over to a rolling basis, I don’t exactly have the ability to agree to a longer fixed term on 1 rate do I which opens me up to an increase every 12 months instead now which he has been hinting at

I am going to ask if he can extend the courtesy of increasing it every 16-18 months since we’ve been here almost a decade, never missed a payment, house is exactly the condition he expects it to be but not having the security legally to tie him down on paper to a fixed term and him being able to change his mind and raise it every 12 months even if he does initially agree otherwise puts me in a position of uncertainty

Am I missing something or am I right in my assumptions?
