Needed to Celebrate with Someone!

Celebration!

Babysitter fell through last minute and I'm not trying to get hit with a $75 cancellation fee, so 20 month old went with me to get my teeth cleaned.

I thought maybe I could just give her my phone and some toys and we would be good. They even put on some cartoons for her. She wouldn't even look at any of it. She was -panicked-. And scream crying. I was starting to get worried she might throw up from how hard she was crying.

I asked the dental tech if she minded if I nursed. She was so cool about it. Said she had a 9 year old and understood that sometimes you just gotta do what you have to do to make it through.

So I whipped out my boob and we nursed through 20 whole minutes of me getting my teeth cleaned. Loud suctioning sounds and all. As soon as we started breastfeeding, my daughter was wayyy more chill and even began popping off the boob to make observations about what was happening or things in the room ("Brush!" "Loud." "Light!!") and then she'd pop back on when she got nervous again.

The dentist was awesome. She was also cool about the breastfeeding.

If we hadn't nursed, no doubt my daughter would have cried her heart out until she vomited on the dentist's floor and idk if I even would have been able to get my teeth cleaned with my daughter in that state.

Shout out to these awesome women. Shout out to breastfeeding.

Thanks for listening to my story. All the best to all of you and I hope your breastfeeding jouney also enables and empowers you. ❤️
