Starting my prerequisites at 34!

Hello everyone! I’m a male nurse (lpn) and after 3 years of internal debate, I’ve decided to 100% commit to getting into vet school, and I’m starting now instead of later. I love animals, and I’m pursuing this profession because I want as much medical knowledge as possible and want to apply that knowledge of care to as many animals as possible. The amount of procedures a GP can do in a vet clinic, to me, sounds way more interesting than pursuing human family medicine/med school. I don’t find what I currently do to be fulfilling. I feel like a drone, I can’t apply critical thinking in my job, all I do is take orders, administer meds and get yelled at by nurses and doctors (all too common in nursing). Yes I know there is difficult people in the vet world, but the thought of learning the knowledge of a veterinarian and caring for animals really ignites a fire in me, I smile thinking about it. Is 34 a good age to start prerequisites? What steps should I take? Any tips? Thanks!
