MacBook won’t open safari

I don’t know what happened, I was using Safari and closed my laptop, when I went back on I tried to open Safari and it won’t show but the screen will go grey like when tabs are present. I tried searching for it but it didn’t show up. I tried using a shortcut to close all tabs and then it made a short and small noise like when you’re playing a game and it makes a noise when you press something. Everything else seems to work fine.
