Relatives ARE SHIT; they caused a big uproar when I said I want to pursue a career in politics.
For some context, I come from a family with a business background as well as a family of doctors and engineers. My grandfather is involved in various associations like the Chamber of Commerce and traders' associations, and he is the president of many of them. I've always found this fascinating, and during my time in school, I've contested in various elections and held many positions in the student council. While I know it doesn't exactly count as politics, I truly enjoy the experience. Today, we had a family dinner with my uncles and cousins, who are all in the fields of medicine and engineering. When they asked me about my future plans, I mentioned wanting to study law and eventually participate in politics. They gave me such disapproving looks and said to my father, "beti haath se gayi, kon sambhakega buisness tumhara, thodi akal dalo kya karegi politican banke" Just imagine how that felt. My father chimed in, saying, "Politics is for a different kind of people." But for some reason, I still feel a strong inclination towards it. So, that's where our society stands..and people really think that humanities has no scope
