Juno had a healthier hero design before the glide nerf

R.I.P Juno (Aug. 20, 2024 - July 22, 2025)

Juno was one of the most liked (or least hated) supports, being received much better than the 3 supports that came before her. She needed nerfs initially, especially to her ult, but even after these she was able to find a good spot in meta rotations - a much needed break from Kiri Lucio. I even appreciated the falloff nerf because it encouraged Juno players to take risks and try to balance being closer to the fight without exploding by leveraging mobility intelligently in the heat of the moment. I was disheartened that they walked the falloff back but the glide change that came along with it makes her so much worse. Now her buttons feel clunky and she dies instantly to hitscan or characters that run her down. The optimal way to play her is passively supporting as far away from the action as possible, her ability to take risks and make plays is gutted. It’s to the point that notoriously passive and low skill ceiling characters like Mercy have recently had 2-3x Juno’s pickrate and several percentage points higher winrate in GM and Champion consistently. And speaking of skill expression, Juno’s headshot perk got replaced in favor of a perk that can also be used to healbot. I don’t get why they nerfed her mobility when the main thing people were complaining about was torpedos. Surely this hurts Juno players’ enjoyment with the game way more than it boosts other players’ experience in the handful of games they find themselves fighting a Juno.
