Keyboard Hell

Question

Have an M2 MacBook Air - 2022 model. It’s mint condition, battery health at 100% and I love using it - albeit I don’t use it often as always out the house working (I do a job that doesn’t involve using my own tech!)

Went to use it last week, and noticed a couple of keys weren’t working - notably the backspace and some keys next to it.

This week it’s spread to the escape key, caps lock key and function buttons…

Been researching and people say this is a costly fix from Apple. I’m waiting on my insurance claim to be accepted, £100 excess on that which I don’t think is too bad.

My question is that whether this is a common occurrence with these machines? Is this likely to happen again if it gets repaired? And if insurance doesn’t agree it, I wonder whether it’s worth repairing and throwing more money at Apple… not impressed when it’s barely used!
