My review after 3 hours of SW Outlaws gameplay on the Switch2

Review

Let me star by saying that I despise Ubisoft with every fiber of my being but I couldn’t pass on the opportunity to try out the free demo on the switch 2 and I believe that credit must be given when credit is due

Let’s start with the positives.

  1. I was truly shocked and amazed by how well the game runs on the switch 2. It is by far the most optimized third party AAA game I’ve played on the switch 2.

  2. Despite the switch 2 limitations the game looks absolutely amazing.

  3. I felt the 3 hours demo was generous and enough for me to make an informed decision whether i want to purchase the game or not.

Now to the negatives and why I won’t be buying this game or wait until it goes on 80% sale.

  1. The main protagonist, whatever her name is , not only ugly but also boring soulless . I felt like I was playing a cleaning lady who just recently got her carry license.

  2. The main protagonist voice acting is terrible. You can tell that person is not a professional actor. Felt like some Joe Shmoe tiktoker with very little talent. Compare that to the other voice acting in the game and it’s a night and day difference. I think they made a terrible decision casting her.

  3. The gameplay is REALLY boring. I forced myself to play the 3 hours demo so I can try to be objective but it was hard. Nothing in this game , or at least the beginning of it, intrigued me. All it was is bunch of fetch quests or investigations quest mixed with lame pew pew FPS.

As impress as I am with how well the game runs on the switch 2 and I give the devs full credit for that, the gameplay is a complete bore fest with a boring and soulless protagonist.

Regardless of my experience with the game, the takeaway is that I hope other AAA studios learn from the Ubi team who ported this game.

  1. This is how you port a game to the switch 2. Looking at you FromSoft and Gearbox. Don’t release sloppy mess just to meet a deadline. Take your time because Ubi just proved that it is possible to run AAA games on the switch 2 and get good performance and good graphics.

  2. A short demo can really help players make informed decisions , as opposed to relying on shills and paid fake reviews by so called game journalists. 3 hours was very generous.
