Help! How much should I pay for longterm dog sitting?
Hello dog lovers! Advice needed..
I've been presented with an opportunity that I'm considering taking. Tough part of the job is that it requires me to uproot my life and live across the country for 5-7 months. I have a sweet 7 year old bernedoodle that I would need to find care for during that time as I unfortunately wouldn't be able to bring him along. My ideal situation would be him living at someone's home, almost as if he's their dog for this time. The level of care includes 1 walk per day, being fed morning and evening, and him not being left alone for longer than 8 hours. He gets along well with other dogs and cats and would be happy in a home where he has furry friends. Settling into a new environment would understandably be anxiety inducing for him and there's a chance he will act out until he adjusts to the transition- I'm hoping he wouldn't be too naughty, but there's a chance he could have nervous poops in the house and/or attempt getting into the trash, things like that. Again, I would hope this phase wouldn't last long.
This is weighing on my dog momma heart so much. It would be so difficult to be away from my baby for that long :( I'm wondering what would be a fair and appropriate amount per month to pay the person that takes this on given the information above? I want to know his needs are being met and he's being loved and attuned to and am willing to pay for that, I'm just at a loss for what that amount is! I keep seeing different things around the internet- one thing I found was saying $600-$1000 is appropriate, then the next day I found something that said $1200-$1500 per month is more standard. This is a unique situation and I'm needing some guidance! TIA!!!
