Looking for a children’s book from early 2000s – woman delivering cakes on a bicycle
Hi all,
I’ve been trying to track down a children’s book I read around 2003–2004 (I was born in 1998, UK-based). It was a thin, short book—possibly part of a school reading scheme or library series.
The story was about a fat woman (possibly a baker) who was delivering cakes to friends or customers on her bicycle. The cakes were stored in silver or grey cake tins attached to the bike. One of the tins came loose and rolled into a bush. I vividly remember a page showing all the different cakes—one was definitely a coffee cake.
I think the title might’ve been something like “The Runaway Cake”, but I haven’t found any trace of it online. I’ve posted about it before and got no leads, so I’m hoping someone here might remember it or have a copy.
Any help would be massively appreciated—this book meant a lot to me as a kid and I’d love to find it again.
Thanks in advance!
