In the nightime reststop scene on the way to chicago, the waitress says its still a three hour drive due to the weather. Per the signage and the configuration of the finer, they are on I-80 maybe 20 minutes south of the city, 10 if you take the highway

Was the weather really that bad?

This movie is now unwatchable to my transit pilles brain.
