Which one should I pick: HP Victus 15 (Core 5 210H + RTX 5050) or ASUS TUF Gaming A16 (Ryzen 5 7535HS + RTX 4050)?
Hey everyone, I’m trying to decide between these two laptops for gaming and general use (a bit of gaming, some productivity, maybe light video/photo editing). Both have 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD, but they differ in CPU and GPU — and I’m torn between them.
⸻
🔹 HP Victus 15 • CPU: Intel Core 5 210H (8C/12T, 2.2–4.8 GHz) • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050, 8 GB GDDR7 • RAM: 32 GB DDR5 (5600 MHz) • Display: 15.6” FHD (1920×1080), 144 Hz, 300 nits • Weight: 2.29 kg • Extras: Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, white backlit keyboard • OS: Windows 11 Home
⸻
🔹 ASUS TUF Gaming A16 • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS (6C/12T, 3.3–4.55 GHz) • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, 6 GB GDDR6 (TGP 140 W) • RAM: 32 GB DDR5 (5600 MHz) • Display: 16” WUXGA (1920×1200), 144 Hz, 300 nits • Weight: 2.20 kg • Extras: Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, RGB backlit keyboard, Windows 11 Pro • Power: 240 W adapter, solid cooling system
⸻
I’m wondering which one would be the better long-term choice. The RTX 5050 is newer, but the ASUS has higher GPU TGP and a 16:10 screen, which could make it more balanced overall. On the other hand, the new Intel Core 5 (Meteor Lake) chip in the Victus has 8 cores vs 6 in the Ryzen.
Which one would you choose and why? My priorities are performance, thermals, and overall build quality.
