AIO for leaving a group vacation early after my friends kept making fun of my budget meals?
I (30F) just got back from a 5-day trip with three friends. I’ve been tight on money lately, so I told them upfront I’d be sticking to a budget, skipping some restaurants, maybe cooking in the Airbnb. They said “no worries.”
Except they did worry or more like mock me. Every time I’d make something simple (like eggs or sandwiches), they’d joke, “Chef Gordon Ramsay at it again” or “How’s poverty life?” and laugh. It stung, but I smiled through it.
By day 3, it got worse. One friend even secretly filmed me cooking and posted it on her story with the caption “Vacation with Miss Frugal.” I saw it because someone sent it to me. I packed up, left the next morning, and booked a solo bus home.
Now they’re saying I “ruined the trip” and “overreacted to jokes.” But honestly, I felt humiliated.
Am I overreacting for walking out?
