My dog clotheslined me and gave me these friction burns from the wire lead I use. It's been 10 days and they still really hurt. Is urgent care with it at this point?

Physician Responded

Me: 55F, Type 2 diabetic (Jardiance and metformin), otherwise good health

On 10/18, I had my dog in the yard on a long line (braided wire with plastic sheath) and got tangled when he took off after his ball and got these friction burns across the front of both ankles.

By the third day, they'd scabbed up and were sore.

Today, 10 days after the original incident, they're still very painful and don't seem to look any better. A contributing factor is that they're right across where my foot flexes with most activity, so I think that's part of what's keeping them sore. They don't really seem to be healing, though.

For the past three days, I've been trying to keep them moist with Mupirucin (a petroleum jelly based prescription antibiotic ointment that I had left over from a cyst surgery), but I'm not sure it's helping.

I'm considering urgent care, but is it worth it at this point? I have plenty of ointment and bandages, so if that's all they'd offer me, I don't want to waste my time.
