Insurance claim or private pay?
My husband banged the front of my 2023 Hyundai Tucson into the side of our garage door trying to put the car on one side so he could get something out.
I’m going to need a new fender. And as far as the bumper goes, it’s got some scratches in it. So it’s gonna have to be taken off and repainted and filled at the very least also the plastic parts that go around the fender and tire area need to be replaced.
I checked with two local places that do auto body repairs, and it looks like it’ll be around $2,000.
I called my insurance agent, and she basically discouraged me from filing a claim, not in so many words, but she said that it it’s going to be a collision and my insurance will go up.
I have a $500 deductible.
The autobody places, on the other hand, encourage me to file a claim. Obviously, it benefits them because then they can even charge higher rates.
So they are both self interested.
I’d like to know what is the best practice in the scenario?
Thank you!
