Family pecan tree being cut down- any way I can grow anything from it?

An old pecan tree my late grandfather loved in zone 8a is set to be cut down. I wondered if there’s any way to grow a sapling here in 7a from a cutting or a volunteer sapling growing nearby the old tree. A Google search makes it seem really challenging to do, especially for a home gardener, but I wanted to ask some experts directly, just in case. Thanks so much!
