It's ok if meditation isn't for you. Ignore the haters.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but it's OK if you don't meditate. Stop letting both the crunchie tree huggers and the elite life hacker bros shame you into feeling inadequate.
Now I'm not saying meditation isn't awesome. It can help reduce anxiety, enhance focus, lower blood pressure, and improve your composure. Meditation has indeed changed the lives of many people in many cultures. You should probably try it if you haven't.
But you know what else is great?
- Vigorous exercise
- Positive affirmations
- Stretching
- Therapy
- Journaling
- Cold plunges
- Practicing gratitude
- And a whole bunch of other proven wellness tactics
I'd bet that not all meditators have time to do all those things that maybe you DO have time to do. And it's not like you're trying to shove those facts down *their* throat.
The truth is that some minds just don't respond as well to prolonged stretches of silent breath observation as others, and not everyone has *time* to pursue every wellness strategy.
If you haven't found meditation to be tremendously useful for yourself, there's nothing wrong with you. Billions of people have led successful, peaceful, happy, healthy lives without regular meditation.
Do what works best for you. Your brain will be just fine.
