Should I do it now!?
Hi everyone, I've been lingering for a while and learning lots about the EV9. I'm thinking of leasing one soon - it would be my first electric vehicle, however I'm really indecisive. I'm located in Ontario, Canada. I've been driving a 2016 Land Rover LR4 and, to be honest, it has been an absolutely incredible vehicle for me. I love it. What an absolute beast in the winter months and it would be hard to part with. The LR4 is now 10 years old and I have two young children. Because of all the salt on the roads here, I have started to have some brake line issues. My mindset has changed and I now desire a vehicle that is safe, comfortable, and reliable for my kids. I work a stressful busy job and I no longer have the time or desire to be fixing problems myself. That being said, I can continue to drive the LR4 for now, so I am in no rush.
My local Kia dealership has been great to my wife, and we absolutely adore her new plug in hybrid Sorento. I recently test drove the 2026 EV9 Land GT-Line that is available and I really enjoyed the vehicle. I have a brand new garage and can easily add a L2 charger. The dealership has offered to throw in some winter tires and rims. I would lease for 3 years with a 1% interest rate reduction with my wife already having a Kia.
Overall, my biggest question is timing. I know we cannot predict anything, however do you think based on the time of year that there may possibly be some type of Manufacturer rebate or incentive for the EV9 in Canada? Any news on a potential return of Federal incentive for EVs? I would hate to move into the vehicle next week and then all of a sudden Kia releases incentives. Any historical knowledge of what they have done over the past couple of years with EV9's? Any thoughts or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
