"Be a villager if you want a village" sounds like b.s.
Why should I show up for people I don't really like doing things I don't really want to do, just to "have a village?"
Spending my entire life as a people-pleaser, doing whatever everyone else wants me to do has turned me into an extremely selfish person because that got me nowhere and I am incredibly behind in life.
Here I am, as a single parent in my 30s, and I'm seeing this trend on social media stating that "being annoyed is the price you pay for community" and that you have to "be a villager" to have a village.
Really? So I have to keep "showing up" being annoyed and doing things I don't want to do for others just to make sure people "show up" and do things they don't want to do for me? Whatever happened to doing nice things because you WANT to?
Sounds like a load of b.s. and I'd rather just not have the village at that point.
Thoughts?
