Progress and hope

Hey I thought I’d share some progress and maybe give some hope. I know everyone is going to have different experiences and everyone’s body is different but honestly just hearing that it can get better would have helped me a year ago!

Almost exactly a year ago my shoulder started to freeze and the pain started. Over that time I’ve had the massive loss of range of motion, the shocks, all of it. I started just calling it my dead arm.

At first I tried every exercise I found on this sub and online. I iced it, I used a heating pad. I reached out to my primary care doc and they were dismissive and told me to stretch more. After about 6 months of that I decided to just relax about it and rest it more than anything. I work out several times a week and in that workout I stretch and move it within its comfortable range. I use lighter weight on that side. I never push it to the point of discomfort. I stopped doing anything beyond that and I just let it be and rested it. About 3-4 months ago I would say the pain started to lessen. I wasn’t getting those horrible stabbing shocking pains anymore. I started having an easier time moving it around.

Now one year from when it started my range of motion is maybe 70% back and getting better all the time. The pain is much less and only when I push it past the range of motion. It finally feels like I’m coming to the other side. I do live in fear of it happening on the other arm, especially as that’s my dominant arm and it would be much more of a struggle. But at least I now know it can get better! I hope it does for all of you!
