Valley of Tears race

Hi. I’m a relatively new gravel rider doing it for about a year. I would love to have something to train for over the winter. I’m looking to travel from Pennsylvania to a spring race. Does anyone have any experience with Valley of Tears race in Texas? How would this compare to mid south in Oklahoma? I realize mid South was canceled this past year for wildfires. Is there a good chance that this happens again?
