BBF suddenly not working after changing C2 settings

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help me before I take my R7 into the shop to get checked out - I'm assuming this is user error of some sort.

I've had my R7 for around 3 months now and have no complaints. I set the camera up following Jan Wegener's settings on C1 and have been shooting with just that for the past three months while I get to know the camera. Once I knew what I wanted to do with C2, I set that up as well and since then I've been having a problem.

I'm set up with dual BBF - a base, single-point AF with no eye detect or tracking on the * button which I use to pre-focus or help with focusing in tricky situations and then single-point AF with eye detect and subject tracking turned on, set to the AF-ON button.

Since setting up C2, the * button is just... not focusing. It's not pulsing, or struggling to find the focus, it's just not engaging the focus mode at all. I've had to either use the AF-ON button to "kickstart" the focus or manually focus (which is hard with a broken finger!). After doing this a few times, the camera goes back to working like normal but if I switch it off or switch modes it goes back to not focusing and I have to kickstart it a few times again.

Things I've tried so far:

• Resetting all settings and setting the camera up again from scratch
• Full battery
• Different SD card
• Different lens
• Double (and triple checked) that the buttons are set to what they're meant to be set to

I'm leaving on a safari on Saturday so I'm really hoping this is just an ID10T error and I can get it sorted before we go because there's zero chance the store is going to be able to run a diagnostic and get it fixed before I leave.
